Italiano furious after VAR red as Parma beat Bologna 1-0 at the Dall’Ara

Bologna players react at full-time after a 1–0 home defeat to Parma at the Dall’Ara.

A match that Bologna badly needed to steady themselves ended in the cruellest way possible. Bologna were beaten 1–0 at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara by Parma, with Christian Ordóñez scoring deep into stoppage time.

The turning point came early. Tommaso Pobega was initially booked, but a VAR review upgraded it to a straight red in the 22nd minute — leaving the hosts to play more than an hour a man down and turning the whole afternoon into a survival job.

Parma didn’t keep it simple either: Mariano Troilo was sent off later on, bringing numbers back to ten-v-ten, but Bologna still couldn’t land the punch they needed. Instead, the late Ordóñez strike decided it, and the home crowd were left staring at another damaging result.

After full-time, Vincenzo Italiano was openly angry about the decision-making and the VAR process, and the defeat adds fuel to the usual speculation — including rumours linking Thiago Motta to a possible return — even if none of that has been confirmed by the club. Whether the Pobega red card is upheld or challenged is also still unclear.
