Adidas reveals Budapest-inspired UCL match ball for knockouts

Adidas has unveiled the official match ball for the UEFA Champions League knockout rounds and the final in Budapest, timed to land just before the elimination games begin.

The ball is set to roll out across the knockout phase and then return for the showpiece final on 30 May — a date cited in the source material without stating the year, though the update was dated 9 February 2026.

Rather than leaning on club badges or star players, the design puts the host city front and centre.

The graphics draw on Budapest’s split identity — the “Buda and Pest” story — and incorporate Art Nouveau-inspired detailing to echo local architecture and visual culture.

On the technical side, UEFA says the ball uses Adidas’ seamless, thermally-bonded construction and meets elite performance standards for top-level matches.

The emphasis is on consistency and durability across high-speed play, from the first knockout ties to the final.
