Barcelona’s Copa semi-final with Atlético de Madrid comes with an extra storyline running alongside it: Ferran Torres’ future.
On the pitch, Torres has made a habit of hurting Atlético lately, scoring in each of his last three meetings with Diego Simeone’s side. This season he’s on 16 goals in all competitions, including 12 in LaLiga. Some tallies also have him as the top-scoring Spanish player in the league, and two ahead of Lamine Yamal.
There’s recent Copa history too. Last season included a brace at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano, a decisive goal in the semi-final second leg, a hat-trick against Valencia CF in the quarters, and a run that ended with Jules Koundé striking in a 3–2 win at Estadio La Cartuja.

Torres’ contract runs to June 2027, and club sources say talks have taken place, though the exact status is unconfirmed.
Reports also suggest financial fair play limits could complicate any deal. For now, Barcelona’s plan is simple: chase a Copa final, while trying to lock in a forward playing like one.
