Jude Bellingham eyes trophies after ‘Poor 2025’ at Real Madrid

Real Madrid is aiming to get back to winning ways in 2026, with Jude Bellingham admitting that 2025 was “a bit poor” for the LaLiga giants.

Last season, Real came up short on major trophies – finishing runners-up to Barcelona in LaLiga and the Copa del Rey, being eliminated by Arsenal in the Champions League, and losing to PSG in the Club World Cup semifinals.

Preparations for the new year began with an open training session for fans at Valdebebas, with the first trophy of the season already on the line – the Spanish Supercopa semifinal in Jeddah against Atletico Madrid.

“Let’s hope for trophies,” Bellingham told Real Madrid TV. “The fans deserve it. 2025 was a bit poor. So in the new year, we want trophies.”

Bellingham underwent shoulder surgery last summer after the Club World Cup, delaying his LaLiga debut this season until late September. He has so far scored four goals and provided three assists in the league, along with a goal and an assist in the Champions League.

Madrid started the season well under coach Xabi Alonso, winning 13 of their first 14 games, but three draws and three defeats in just over a month put Alonso’s future under scrutiny. The situation improved with three consecutive wins before Christmas – against Alavés, Talavera de la Reina, and Sevilla – but the coach still faces pressure ahead of Sunday’s LaLiga return against Real Betis, followed by the Supercopa semifinal in Jeddah.
