Dybala to miss Roma – Cagliari as club takes precautionary approach ahead of Serie A clash

Paulo Dybala looks on during a Roma match as the club decides not to risk him against Cagliari.

Roma won’t gamble with Dybala for Monday night’s league match against Cagliari. After missing the last two games, he’s been working individually in training, and reports say the club have decided the safest call is to hold him back rather than push him too soon.

That choice forces an immediate reshuffle in the final third. With Dybala out, Soulé and Pellegrini are tipped to start in the creative roles behind the striker — a setup that leans more on energy, ball-carrying and volume chances than that one moment of magic Dybala can produce.

Matías Soulé, expected to take a bigger creative role for Roma with Dybala unavailable.

There are a couple of other fitness checks in the background. Evan Ferguson and Mario Hermoso have been training away from the main group in recent updates, so their availability is still something Roma have to manage right up to kickoff.

Roma host Cagliari at the Olimpico on Monday, and the plan is clear: protect the player now, find solutions on the pitch, and try to keep momentum without taking risks that could cost weeks later
