A report from La Gazzetta dello Sport on 11 February 2026 says Inter Milan have put Guglielmo Vicario at the top of their shortlist as the long-term successor to Yann Sommer, with a handover aimed at the 2026–27 season.
The same report claims Sommer’s deal is due to expire in June and that Inter are not expected to offer a new contract, framing the search as planned succession rather than a sudden scramble.

Vicario’s stock has risen quickly. The newspaper points to his five Italy caps since debuting in March 2024 and cites 13 clean sheets in 36 appearances this season as evidence he can handle the pressure at the top end of the game.
The obstacle, as reported, is timing and price. Vicario is under contract at Tottenham Hotspur, and the report suggests an asking figure of at least €25 million — with no certainty yet that Inter will make a formal offer or that Spurs would entertain it.
Juventus are also pulled into the picture. Gazzetta describes their goalkeeper situation as unsettled and notes Michele Di Gregorio may no longer be considered untouchable, hinting at a wider reshuffle in Serie A. For Inter, the plan is clear on paper; whether the market cooperates remains the open question.
